How to apply for a vocational placement scheme

Only registered training organisations can apply to have a vocational placement scheme recognised.

A number of steps must be taken to apply for recognition of a vocational placement scheme. These are outlined below.

Steps involved in the application for recognition of a vocational placement scheme

Follow the steps below to lodge an application for recognition of your vocational placement scheme:

Step Description

Step 1:

Decide if a vocational placement scheme is necessary. Ask yourself if vocational placement is a requirement of the training, or if vocational placement will enhance the learner's training experience.

Step 2:

Be prepared for the vocational placement. Read the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000 [PDF 811kb] and understand the roles and responsibilities of the various parties to a vocational placement.

Step 3:

Make sure the program is within your scope of registration. Learn how to extend your scope of registration.

Step 4:

Complete form VPS01 (Application for recognition of a vocational placement scheme) [DOC 224kb].

Step 5:

A person with legal responsibility to sign on behalf of the registered training organisation must sign form VPS01 (Application for recognition of a vocational placement scheme).

Step 6:

Submit the application form to the accreditation team, including the appropriate fee.

Step 7:

Wait for confirmation in writing that the vocational placement has been recognised. This confirmation should be received in approximately ten working days.

Following receipt of confirmation that the vocational placement has been recognised, the next step is to arrange a vocational placement agreement.
