Role of the registered training organisation in vocational placement agreements
Registered training organisations have certain roles and responsibilities in respect of a vocational placement agreement. The registered training organisation must:
- ensure written confirmation has been received from the Training Recognition Council that the vocational placement scheme is approved
- develop a register to record details of short vocational placements within 7 days of the vocational placement being approved
- arrange workers' compensation cover for the vocational placement
- organise public liability insurance (refer section 125 of the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000)
- complete a vocational placement agreement [PDF 73kb]
- negotiate a training plan signed by all parties
- provide a copy of the vocational placement agreement, and the training plan, to all parties
- ensure the employer can provide the facilities, range of work, and supervision and training required
- provide advice to the student (and parent/guard ian if the student is under 18) and the employer in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 4 of the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000
- advise the employer on the training assessment that must be done during the vocational placement.
