Training package status definitions
The status of any training package changes during the development and life cycle of the package. At different stages, the status of a training package may be given as:
Under development
A training package is considered as being 'under development' once a contract for its development has been signed. Industry personnel, providers, and other relevant stakeholders are widely consulted by the relevant industry advisory bodies during this phase.
Awaiting endorsement
After a training package has been developed, that package is submitted to the National Quality Council for endorsement. Once endorsed, the Commonwealth, state and territory ministers responsible for vocational education and training have 14 days to formally agree to its suitability for national use. A training package is listed as 'awaiting endorsement' until that package has been formally accepted by this forum.
Endorsed
Once the training package has been formally endorsed by the National Quality Council and the Ministers, that package can be used by registered training organisations. The training package will then be listed on the National Training Information Service website, and will be available for purchase from Australian Training Products.
Awaiting publication
Where a training package is listed as 'awaiting publication' it has been endorsed, but is not yet available for purchase in printed form. A printed copy of the training package is usually available for purchase from Australian Training Products or the relevant national industry training advisory body approximately four weeks after ministerial endorsement. Registered training organisations cannot deliver training from a package until a published copy of that package has been received.
In review
- Training packages are reviewed and resubmitted for endorsement every three years, although the package remains endorsed while it is being reviewed. Generally, the review process commences 18 months after a package has been endorsed.
