National standards for group training organisations
On 24 May 2002, the Australian National Training Authority Ministerial Council (now the Ministerial Council for Vocational and Technical Education) decided that the National Standards for Group Training Organisations would be adopted as the quality arrangements in each state and territory for group training organisations seeking government funding. These standards were adopted from 1 January 2003.
The national standards:
- provide the framework for a nationally consistent, robust, group training service brand;
- assist group training organisations to monitor and improve their organisation's strategic, operational, and financial planning, and performance;
- provide federal, state and territory governments with a consistent basis for the recognition, support and monitoring of group training organisations.
In Queensland, the Department of Employment and Training, as the state training authority, has extended the application of the national standards to all group training organisations seeking initial and continued recognition in Queensland, regardless of whether that organisation is seeking, or receives, Joint Group Training Program funding.
