Becoming recognised as a group training organisation
Not-for-profit organisations can apply to the Training and Employment Recognition Council to be recognised as group training organisations in Queensland.
These organisations may apply to be recognised as a group training organisation for an industry, an industry sector, or a geographical area, providing those industries and/or areas are not, or cannot be, adequately serviced by the existing group training network.
An application to operate as a group training organisation in Queensland has two parts:
- meeting the Queensland requirements as outlined in the 'Application for recognition as a group training organisation in Queensland' form;
- complying with the National Standards for Group Training Organisations in accordance with Queensland audit arrangements for group training.
Applications are evaluated by the Queensland Department of Employment and Training and then submitted to the Training and Employment Board. The board then decides whether or not to recognise the organisation as a group training organisation. An application will not be considered unless it is lodged together with an audit report [PDF 117kb], including a compliance recommendation. (Note: The department will consider, on application, interstate compliance audits.)
Organisations should seek advice prior to applying to become a group training organisation.
Once an organisation meets the national standards, and is recognised by the Training and Employment Board, it will be placed on the National Group Training Register and be issued with the certified trademark group training logo.
