VET Legislation and Registration Policies
Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000
The Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000 was introduced in Queensland to provide a legislative foundation for flexible high quality training to support Queensland's workforce, both now and in the future. The Act establishes legislative requirements for registered training organisations as well as those delivering under apprenticeship and traineeship arrangements and using vocational placement. Compliance with the ACT is a condition of registration for Queensland registered training organisations.
The Training and Employment Recognition Council has legislative authority to administer the legislation which includes the registration and regulation of registered training organisations in Queensland.
Sections 20-45 of the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000 apply specifically to registered training organisations. Where a registered training organisation has a component of a vocational placement in a training course, sections 107-132 also apply.
