Initial registration process
An organisation that wishes to deliver recognised training and assessment, and issue qualifications and statements of attainment under the Australian Qualifications Framework must be registered by the Training and Employment Recognition Council. The Queensland Department of Education, Training and the Arts holds regular information sessions and workshops for training providers who are considering registration.
The initial registration process is as follows:
- Decide the training package qualification/s or accredited course/s to be delivered. Visit the National Training Information Service for a list of endorsed training packages and accredited courses and qualifications. (For information on the apprenticeships or traineeships that have been declared in Queensland, search Queensland Training Information.)
- Set up systems and obtain or prepare resources in accordance with the Australian Quality Training Framework Standards for Registered Training Organisations.
- Complete the RTO1 [PDF 188kb] form and forward to the department with the appropriate fee [PDF 54kb]. More information on fees and charges is located on this site.
- Take part in an initial registration compliance audit.
- Rectify any non-compliances identified during the audit process.
- Written advice will be forwarded from the Training and Employment Recognition Council that registration has been approved.
- Commence training and assessment and maintain compliance with the Australian Quality Training Framework and the Vocational Education, Training and Employment Act 2000.
