Industry technical advisers
Where a Training Quality auditor needs clarification on a technical issue, they may engage the services of an industry technical adviser.
A technical adviser is a person who:
- provides expert judgments regarding industry requirements
- has specialist knowledge and skills in the relevant industry
- is familiar with the industry
- has proof of expertise through relevant current experience in the industry sector
- has knowledge of training and assessment issues related to the industry.
In identified high-risk areas, the department will determine if technical advice is required. For high risk qualifications with licencing outcomes, the department will use technical advise from the relevant industry regulator.
Technical advisers are required to complete an approved conflict of interest declaration prior to being engaged to provide technical advice.
Training Quality will obtain industry advice and input into strategic industry audits. The Australian Quality Training Framework Standards for State and Territory Registering/Course Accrediting Bodies requires relevant industry/enterprise representation during all strategic industry audits at a state and territory level.
