Key announcement on Queensland Skills Plan implementation  
From 1 July 2006, a new Trade and Technician Skills Institute and a new entity called the Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE will commence operation. Over the next three years, trades training offered at existing TAFE institutes in metropolitan Brisbane will gradually be transferred to the Trade and Technician Skills Institute's facilities at Acacia Ridge and Eagle Farm.

All other training in Brisbane will be delivered by three institutes: Brisbane North Institute; Southbank Institute; and the new Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE, which will replace Logan, Yeronga and Moreton TAFE institutes but operate from their existing campuses.
