Emerging industries and employment trends

The Queensland Government is committed to the well-being of young people and indigenous Queenslanders, the future of our state's communities, and the prosperity of our emerging and established industries.

Through collaboration with industry, communities and other government agencies, the Queensland Department of Employment and Training has developed Smart investment: Queensland training and employment priorities 2005 - 2006. Government employment and training funds have been prioritised this financial year to enable these economic, employment and social development priorities to be met.

Further information is available from this site on training strategies in Queensland, and the Commonwealth Government's Australian Workplace website provides information on emerging industries and employment trends both in Queensland and in Australia as a whole.

The Australian Workplace website includes Job Outlook 2004 , a publication that provides a guide to the jobs projected to be in demand in the future and highlights occupations with good prospects.

Job Outlook 2004 complements the Job Outlook online site and provides vital labour market information on around 4000 occupations to assist employment and recruitment services, career advisers, job seekers, job changers and those exploring career options. Job Outlook incorporates information on industry employment trends and skill shortages.
