User Choice overview for training organisations
User Choice is a program that provides public funding to registered training organisations and works in conjunction with the apprenticeship and traineeship system.
User Choice allows employers, together with their apprentices and/or trainees to negotiate directly with registered training organisations to arrange quality accredited training to meet their specific needs.
Training authorities in each state and territory decide which apprenticeships and traineeships are to be funded every year. In Queensland, decisions in respect of access to funding take into account:
- strategic initiatives that need to be addressed
- changing demands for training
- budgetary constraints
- qualifications with low enrolment numbers.
