The 2008-2010 Disability High Support Needs Tender
The Department of Education, Training and the Arts is implementing a competitive process for registered training organisations to become Preferred Suppliers to access funds for accredited training for people with a disability with high support needs.
The aim of this Initiative is to provide funding to develop the skills of people with a disability who have high support learning support needs so that they may progress into employment or to a higher level of vocational education training. The registered training organisation will provide accredited vocational training in areas that reflect local employment opportunities.
The vocational training / skill development experience is not to be perceived as an end in itself. Rather, it is to be a step along the pathway to employment or career improvement.
Registered training organisation should link with industry, government and community agencies when recruiting participants, devising learning plans, and assisting people to transition to work. Such agencies could include schools, disability sector agencies and community groups, career counselling agencies, employers, employer associations and/or employment agencies.
