Course accreditation resources
There are a number of documents that are essential as references when developing a course for accreditation.
Guides for developing training packages and accredited courses are available for free download from the Department of Education, Science and Training, or a free hard copy may be ordered by emailing the Department of Education, Training and the Arts accreditation team.

The Australian Quality Training Framework 2007 Standards for Accredited Courses [PDF 169kb] is an essential reference for developing an accredited course.

How to Accredit Courses in Queensland under the Australian Qualifications Training Framework [PDF 378kb] is a companion document, produced by the accreditation team. This document explains the processes for accrediting courses as required by the Training and Employment Recognition Council.

The Department of Education, Science and Training's Training Package Development Handbook is a useful reference for developing units of competency and includes a development template.

The Australian Quality Training Framework Standards for Registered Training Organisations document is useful, as a number of the registered training organisation standards are referenced within the Guidelines for Course Developers.
The National Training Information Service website is a good reference point for up-to-date information on endorsed training package qualifications and accredited courses.
Any accreditation process should also involve consultation (where possible) with the following:
- peak industry, industry sector or community bodies
- industry experts.
