The Arts Pathways Initiative

The Arts Pathways Initiative is a school-to-work transition pilot project developed as a partnership between Arts Queensland, part of the Department of Education and the Arts, and the Department of Employment and Training. Linked closely with the Education and Training Reforms for the Future and designed in the context of the Government's Creative Queensland 2002 cultural policy, this initiative explores the potential of arts pathways for marginalised young people and those who are at-risk of being disconnected from earning and learning.

Innovative and practical strategies and partnerships that create better options for young people through involvement with the arts are documented. The 2003 action research program was delivered as a collaborative activity between government, education, researchers, arts industry and community, including young people, and contributes to bridging the gap in addressing a range of young people's training and employment needs.
