Free and low cost courses

The 15 Queensland TAFE institutes offer their own range of TAFE Queensland Short Course and Adult Community Education courses. Because each institute runs its own range of courses, you will need to either visit their website or contact the institute directly.

The Adult Community Education program offers non-accredited, fee-for-service, short courses to upgrade skills and cultivate creative talents on a part-time basis in a relaxed, non-competitive learning environment. Typically, course duration is two to three hours weekly, over six to eight weeks.

The TAFE Open Learning offers a variety of these courses for study by correspondence or online through Courses Online for students who are unable to attend face-to-face classes.

More than 250, 000 enrolments were taken in adult education last year. Many of those enrolments were in introductory employment-related subjects such as computing. Adult education courses are also used as pathways to further education and study within TAFE.
