Financial support for qualification assessment and professional recognition
The Department of Education, Science and Training, helps overseas trained professionals who are Australian citizens or permanent residents living in Australia gain recognition of their qualifications in Australia.
That department provides the Australian Education International (AEI) service, through the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR)
NOOSR offers two main types of financial support for overseas trained professionals:
- Assessment Subsidy for Overseas Trained professionals (ASDOT)
This program covers fees for assessments of some overseas qualifications leading to full and unconditional registration where occupations are regulated or, in other professions, the fees for an examination required.
For more information please visit theAustralian Education International's ASDOT website.
- FEE-HELP loan scheme-previously known as the Bridging for Overseas-Trained Professionals Loan Scheme (BOTPLS)
If you have had a skills assessment and you are required to complete bridging study before you can gain entry into your chosen profession in Australia then you may be eligible for a loan to help fund the cost of your study.
The FEE-HELP loan scheme provides financial support for eligible people wishing to attend a Bridging Course for Overseas-Trained Professionals.
Visit the Going to Uni website for more information about FEE-HELP. Information is provided about eligibility requirements and how it replaces BOTPLS.
If you still have questions after visiting the Going to Uni website please contact the FEE-HELP hotline on 1800 020 108.
