Select the paraprofessional / technical qualifications option to learn more about how international formal academic qualifications are assessed against Australian awards.
To learn more about how persons with professional and technical qualifications gained overseas can gain recognition in Australia select the information for overseas qualified professionals page. It contains step-by-step guides for gaining recognition of overseas qualifications, and the requirements for professional licensing/registration in Queensland.
Trade recognition
Trade recognition is a way of gaining formal recognition in Queensland in a particular trade. If you have not completed an apprenticeship in Australia or you have gained trade skills overseas, you can have your skills and work experience nationally recognised.
Overseas qualification recognition
Formal academic qualifications (not trade qualifications) gained overseas and awarded by recognised educational institutions can be assessed for comparability.
Assessments provide employers and educational institutions with information on how overseas qualifications correspond with Australian awards. They are not comparisons between Australian institutions or professions and their overseas counterparts. Assessments provide an indication of the general academic comparability of a qualification.
Paraprofessional / technical qualifications
Paraprofessionals hold a qualification above trade level (Certificate IV) and below a degree. They often assist professionals, have highly developed practical skills and understand complex theoretical knowledge.
Information for overseas qualified professionals
An overseas qualification information resource has been developed to help persons with overseas professional qualifications gain recognition in Australia.
