Features of vocational education and training sector qualifications
Features of vocational educational and training sector qualification levels are as follows:
Vocational graduate diploma and vocational graduate certificate
These qualifications were introduced in early 2005 to enhance the vocational education and training sector's ability to cater for high-level employment related skills and knowledge. They are positioned at the same level as the higher education graduate diploma and graduate certificate and require a similar volume of learning, but the focus is on industry outcomes and competency in a workplace environment. Entry points are flexible and relevant industry experience can be taken into account.
Further information about the qualifications and downloadable brochures are available from the Australian Qualifications Framework.
Workshops to help registered training providers develop accredited courses at these levels are held regularly.
Diploma and advanced diploma
Diplomas and advanced diplomas provide high-level technical or management skills and offer credit to many universities in Queensland. These diplomas can also assist in upgrading your work skills or assist you to enter or re-enter the workforce at a more qualified level.
Certificates III and IV
Certificates III and IV provide a broad range of skills within a variety of tasks and roles. These certificates can help prepare you for autonomous and supervisory roles within the workplace.
Certificates I and II
Certificates I and II are entry-level qualifications that provide preparatory skills and application or knowledge at a basic level, primarily to provide access to work or education.
