Training Plan - minimum requirements

The parties to the training plan are the employer, the apprentice or trainee and the supervising registered training organisation.

A training plan for an apprentice or trainee documents the training to be delivered to the apprentice or trainee by the employer and supervising registered training organisation. It is important that skills required by the apprentice or trainee to perform their job competently are identified in the training plan.

The supervising registered training organisation is required by the Queensland Department of Education, Training and the Arts to negotiate the development of the training plan in conjunction with both the employer and apprentice or trainee. Where the training plan is for a school-based apprentice or trainee, the student's school is required to be involved in negotiating the impact of the apprenticeship or traineeship on the student's school timetable.

The parties to a training plan must comply with the training requirements specified in the signed training plan. See Fact Sheet 105 Training plans for apprentices and trainees for further information.

Minimum requirements of a training plan

While there is no set format for a training plan, an example based on the minimum requirements is available to assist in the development of a training plan. The minimum information to be included in the training plan includes:
