What your employer needs to do
When offering you an apprenticeship or traineeship, your employer has certain responsibilities. Your employer must:
- in discussion with you, choose an Australian Apprenticeships Centre to assist you to complete the training contract
- in discussion with you, choose a training provider
- go through the induction information with the Australian Apprenticeships Centre, the training provider and yourself
- sign the training contract
- when the training contract has been completed and signed by all parties, send it to your Australian Apprenticeships Centre
- work with the training provider to ensure that:
- the workplace has the range of work and facilities required for your training
- there is an acceptable number of tradespeople or qualified persons in the workplace
- you will be adequately supervised when you are in the workplace
- work with you and the training provider to draw up your training plan.
