Completing your training contract

Your apprenticeship or traineeship is complete once you, your employer, and your supervising registered training organisation agree that all the requirements of your training plan have been fulfilled.

The certificate of completion proves that you have acquired all the skills of your apprenticeship or traineeship. This certificate is issued by the Queensland Department of Education, Training and the Arts and is additional to the qualification or statement of attainment that may be issued by your supervising registered training organisation.

When you and your employer agree that all your work has been completed, you need to do the following:

  1. Sign a written statement of completion within five days of the training being completed.
  2. Notify your training provider in writing within 10 days of the training being completed.

Your training provider will then:

  1. Confirm that all the training is complete, and provide you and your employer with a completion agreement to sign.
  2. Provide you with a copy of the signed completion agreement and notify the Queensland Department of Education, Training and the Arts that it has been signed.
  3. Give you a qualification or statement of attainment within 21 days of signing the completion agreement, and notify your employer accordingly.

The Queensland Department of Education, Training and the Arts will then issue you with a certificate of completion and advise your employer in writing that the completion process has been approved.
