Queensland Government traineeships

Queensland Government traineeships combine practical, hands-on workplace skills with college training. Traineeships provide you with a nationally recognised qualification and the experience you need to get the job you want.
A variety of traineeships are offered in a number of industries to provide you with the skills to start a career.

A trainee is bound to an employer by a training contract. Mostly full-time traineeships take 12 months to complete, but are dependent on how quickly you gain the skills required.

The Queensland Government offers 2,400 full-time traineeships and 600 school-based apprenticeships or traineeships each year in government agencies including state government departments, local councils, statutory authorities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Councils and not-for-profit community organisations.

For more information on applying for one of these positions, view the Jobs Online flyer [PDF 69kb] or search for vacancies directly through Smart jobs and careers: www.jobs.qld.gov.au.

Please note the majority of government recruitment occurs in the first half of each calendar year, so don't be discouraged if there are no vacancies when you search the Smart jobs and careers website - keep checking throughout the year.
