2008-2012 Strategic Plan
The Department of Education, Training and the Arts (DETA) provides every Queenslander with the opportunity to engage in quality learning experiences, achieve recognised qualifications and enjoy Queensland's rich arts and cultural environment throughout their lives.
This 'Strategic Plan 2008-2012' gives us the framework to work together to deliver on the department's key priorities and advance our vision of a Clever, Skilled and Creative Queensland. It is unashamedly aspirational, outlining key priorities and goals which will make a difference for Queensland and Queenslanders.
The plan outlines the department's major priorities and goals for Queensland - laying strong educational foundations; enhancing individual and economic opportunities and enriching lives and communities. These priorities for Queensland will be enabled through two key priorities for DETA - engaging with others and improving agility and sustainability. Our programs and services are focused on building a vibrant culture, a prosperous economy and cohesive communities for all Queenslanders. To this end, we are focused on closing the gap for Indigenous Queenslanders and others who have experienced disadvantage.
It is important that our strategic plan reflects the experiences and aspirations of all Queenslanders who engage with the education, training and arts sectors. Accordingly, the plan was developed in consultation with stakeholders across Government, the education and training sectors, and the arts and cultural sector. The department's continued engagement with stakeholders will assist to ensure that a full range of educational, vocational and cultural opportunities are available to enhance the lifelong well-being of all Queenslanders.
