Train to retain

One of the most critical issues facing Queensland's industries is a serious shortfall in skilled workers.

In today's dynamic labour market, with a large range of career options available to individuals, workplaces need to fully engage and value those who choose to undertake an apprenticeship or traineeship to ensure they are retained. Today, the ability to retain staff can prove a significant competitive advantage in any industry.

Train to retain aims to help employers realise this through education and assistance to establish practices that ensure a quality training experience. Quality training significantly increases the likelihood of retaining an individual through to the completion of training and possibly beyond.

A quality training experience is not only crucial for the skill development of each individual apprentice or trainee, it's also crucial for the ongoing development of Queensland's industries and the state's overall economic prosperity.

Put simply, all stakeholders must work together to ensure employers and the industries they represent have enough skilled workers to meet the demands of the future.
