Queensland Skills Plan
The Queensland Skills Plan outlines the Queensland Government's policy framework to reform the state's training system to address skills shortages and build a more highly-skilled workforce. The 24 actions contained in the Queensland Skills Plan will work to develop a training system that works for industry and employers, trades, individuals and Queensland.

Arts Pathways Initiative
The Arts Pathways Initiative is a school-to-work transition pilot project that explores the potential and use of elements of arts and entertainment in the re-engagement process for young people who are at risk of being disconnected from earning and learning.

Adult Skills and Knowledge for the Smart State
The Queensland Government is committed to adult Queenslanders' continual learning. This commitment is outlined in Adult Skills and Knowledge for the Smart State.

Destination 2010: The Action Plan to Implement Queensland State Education - 2010 [PDF 552]
Destination 2010 is Education Queensland's action plan for implementing the changes outlined in Queensland State Education - 2010. This document provides details of prospective outcomes, key performance measures and indicators, targets and data sources.

Guide to the New Legislation: Youth Participation in Education and Training Act 2003 [PDF 31kb]
Parliament has passed historic legislation that will allow young people aged 15-17 years to make exciting choices and follow learning paths that meet their needs in innovative and flexible ways. The Youth Participation in Education and Training Act 2003 represents the first major shift in the delivery of education in Queensland in more than 40 years.

Preparing for Schools Trials [PDF 497kb]
The Queensland Government is investigating converting part-time preschool programs into a full-time preparatory year to be offered in state schools. The November 2003 update [PDF 327kb] is also available for download.

Queensland the Smart State - Education and Training Reforms for the Future [PDF 334kb]
This White Paper (November 2002) outlines the Queensland Government's policy direction for education and training. If Queenslanders want access to the benefits of the knowledge economy of the future, then they have to ensure the education levels and skills of our people are competitive with the best in the world. This strategy captures opinions, attitudes and contexts at a point in time - this is not a static document, but rather a broad description of the future for Queensland education. Skilling Queensland (2001-2004), the Queensland vocational educational and training strategy, provides a vision and response to global and local trends, national and state strategies and policies and, in particular, Queensland's social, economic and geographical issues.

10 per cent Training Policy
The Queensland Government's Building and Construction Contracts - Structured Training Policy, commonly known as the 10 per cent Training Policy, ensures that the training of apprentices, trainees and cadets, and the upskilling of existing workers, comprise 10% of all labour hours on relevant State Government building and construction projects.

Central Queensland Training and Employment Strategy [PDF 588kb]
The Central Queensland Training and Employment Strategy is a response to the multi-billion dollar industrial construction projects in Central Queensland. This strategy provides Queenslanders and Queensland industry with enhanced access to training and skills development opportunities in the manufacturing and engineering industries.

The Indigenous Employment Policy represents part of the government's commitment to the reconciliation process and improved economic development and employment outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Also available for download are:
