Overview of the department

The activities of the former Department of Employment and Training have been moved into two new portfolios reporting to new Ministers following the recent Queensland general election.
 
In 2007  Rod Welford was appointed as Minister for Education and Training and Minister for the Arts and John Mickel  was appointed as Minister for State Development, Employment and Industrial Relations.

Former Director-General of Justice and Attorney-General, Rachel Hunter has been appointed as Director-General of the Department of Education, Training and the Arts.

Former Industrial Relations Director-General Peter Henneken is now Director-General of the new Department of Employment and Industrial Relations.
